Bonjour, je suis le nouveau volontaire, Madiane ! Je suis un français (de Lille), j’ai 21 ans. Je connais déjà un peu la Roumanie, l’année dernière j’ai eu la chance de faire une année d’Erasmus (échange universitaire) à Cluj-Napoca, la capitale de la Transylvanie. Pendant cette année, je pensais déjà à faire une coupure dans mes études après ma licence. J’avais donc commencer à chercher une opportunité pour repartir à l’étranger l’année suivante. C’est comme ça que je suis entré en contact avec l’ADICE, une association de Roubaix qui aide des jeunes à partir en mobilité internationale et qui m’a ensuite proposé un service civique en Roumanie, dans l’association Gipsy Eye.

Le service civique est un programme financé par l’état français, permettant à un jeune de faire une mission d’intérêt général pour une association ou d’une institution publique (comme une mairie par exemple). Je connaissais déjà le programme sans savoir que l’on pouvait partir à l’étranger avec.

La mission en elle même m’a intéressée car je cherchais une opportunité de travailler avec des enfants défavorisés. Mon projet professionnel est d’exercer dans les domaines de la coopération internationale, le développement ou l’humanitaire. Tout ça étant très large et incertain, je voulais faire une pause tout en pouvant me confronter à une réalité de terrain comme celle que je trouve ici. De plus, je suis animateur, et attache une importance à l’éducation par le jeu pour les enfants, que j’espère pouvoir mettre en place ici.

Les enjeux et les problèmes que rencontre la communauté rom m’intéressent aussi beaucoup. C’est en effet une partie de la population européenne qui subit beaucoup de discrimination partout où elle est présente. La perspective de travailler avec une organisation défendant leurs droits et œuvrant pour surmonter les préjugés en Roumanie m’a beaucoup plu. Avant de partir j’ai pu entrer en contact avec plusieurs associations de Lille qui travaillent avec la communauté Rom présente sur place (que j’évoquerais sans doute dans un autre article).

Voilà, voilà, c’était un petit article pour me présenter et évoquer mon projet et mes perspectives, la revedere et à plus tard pour d’autres nouvelles et aventures !

Hey guys, I am the new volunteer, Madiane ! I am from Lille in France and I’m 21. I already know Romania a little since I had the chance to do an Erasmus year in Cluj-Napoca, capital city of the Transylvania region. While that year, I was already thinking about doing a year off, a break  in my studies. In that perspective, I started to search for opportunities to go abroad again. That’s how I got in touch with ADICE, an french organization witch helps the youth to make an international mobility. They offered me to go with the “service civique” program in the Gipsy Eye organization in Pascani, Romania.

The “service civique” program is funded by the French state, it offers volunteering opportunities to young people in NGOs or institutions (as municipalities for exemple). I already knew this program without knowing you volunteer abroad with it.

The mission itself interested me because I was searching for a opportunity to work with disadvantaged children. My career perspective is to practice in humanitarian action, international development or cooperation. This being large and uncertain, I wanted to face a reality on the ground, such as the one I am finding here. Furthermore, I am an activity organizer and I attach importance to education through game, witch I hope I will be able to set up here.

The issues and problems the Roma community is facing really interest me as well. That’s indeed a discriminated part of the European population, and thus in any places they live. The idea of working with an organisation witch defends their rights and help to overcome prejudices really attracted me. Before I left Lille, I could get in touch with several organizations working with the Roma community there (I will probably write another article about this).
