Alex est un petit garçon de 7 ans qui fait partie de notre groupe d’enfants à Cozmesti. Vous avez sûrement déjà dû le remarquer sur nos photos, toujours accompagné de ses fameux bonnets en laine! Un peu solitaire et très attachant, Alex est très très affectueux et nous demande toujours des bisous et des câlins. Il y a quelques mois nous avions incité les enfants à être plus polis entre eux et avec nous, en les incitant à se dire s’il te plaît et merci (aka te rog frumos et mulțumesc en Roumain). Depuis ce jour Alex n’a jamais failli à la politesse, et le nombre incalculable de “s’il te plaît” qu’il nous a dit a fait que Madiane et moi l’avons gentiment surnommé Monsieur Te rog frumos .

Parfois nous nous rendons compte qu’au final nous connaissons assez peu de choses sur ces enfants que nous côtoyons tous les jours. Heureusement la semaine dernière j’ai par exemple eu l’occasion d’accompagner Nicolas, le petit frère de Alex, jusque chez eux. J’étais à vrai dire assez curieux de voir où ils habitaient et connaître la route qu’ils faisaient tous les jours pour aller à l’école. Quand j’ai demandé à Nicolas si leur maison était loin, il m’a répondu “Oh oui c’est loin!”. Je lui ai alors demandé combien de temps cela nous prendrait et il m’a répondu “1 minute”. Je me suis dit que je devrais survivre à ce périple ;p Finalement cela nous a pris une petite dizaine de minutes, et donc j’ai pu voir la maison de Alex et Nicolas qui se trouve au centre de Cozmesti. À présent quand je les vois s’éloigner sur le chemin de la maison, je peux me figurer leur escapade! Alex était ravi de voir que j’avais pris quelque photos de son chez lui et presque chaque jour il me demande qu’on les regarde ensemble. Difficile de lui refuser avec un de ses fameux te rog frumos.

Cette semaine j’ai entendu Alex parler de ce qu’il voulait faire plus tard, quand il serait grand, ce qui m’a fait sourire: tout d’abord il a déclaré vouloir être policier à Pașcani. Pourquoi? Pour pouvoir mettre des amendes aux voitures! Haha mais encore? Il m’a ensuite révélé que cela lui plairait beaucoup de faire de la conduite son métier. Être chauffeur de bus, pour aller jusqu’en Italie m’a-t-il dit! Des envies de voyage, vers cette fameuse Italie qui est si populaire ici ! Troisième idée du petit Alex: être pompier, pour selon ses mots emmener les gens malades à l’hôpital le plus vite possible. Ravi de constater qu’il a déjà plusieurs idées en tête, qui à coup sûr pourront évoluer avec le temps!

Toujours prêt à nous aider à transporter le pain, à distribuer les gâteaux et à faire du troc avec le paquet de cartes, Alex fait partie de ces petites bouilles qui nous donnent envie chaque jour de les accompagner!

Alex is a little 7 year-old boy who is part of our group of children in Cozmesti. You certainly have already seen him on our pictures, wearing his famous woolly hats!  Alex is a bit solitary as well as very endearing, and as he is highly affectionate he loves giving and receiving hugs and kisses. Some months ago we asked the children to be more polite between each other and also with us volunteers, by systematically saying please and thank you (aka te rog frumos and mulțumesc in Romanian). Since then Alex never failed using these words and the uncountable number of “please” that he told us steered Madiane and I to nickname him Mister Te rog frumos .

Sometimes we realize that in the end we don’t know much about these children we spend time with every day. Hopefully last week I had the opportunity to walk Nicolas home, Alex’s small brother. Actually I was rather interested in seeing where they live and in knowing the way they followed everyday to go to school. When I asked Nicolas if their house was far from the school, he replied “Oh yes it is very far”. So I asked him how long it would take and he answered “1 minute”. I told myself I could deal with this journey ;p Eventually it took us about 10 minutes to reach Nicolas and Alex’s house which is located at the centre of Cozmesti. Now when I see them move away on the way home I can imagine their trip! Alex was delighted to discover that I had taken a few pictures of his home and his neighbourhood and almost everyday he asks me to watch it together. Very hard for me to say no with his famous te rog frumos.

This week I heard Alex talk about what he’d want to do later, when he’ll be a grown up, and that made me smile: first he declared he would fancy becoming a policeman in Pașcani. Wondering why?  To be able to put fines on cars! Haha and what else? He then revealed to me that he would love to do driving for a living. Being a bus driver to go till Italy he told me!  The desire of travel, towards the very popular italian destination ! Alex’s third idea: becoming a fireman to be able -that’s what he told me- to bring diseased people to the hospital as fast as possible. I’m delighted to see that he has already thought about his future; for sure that will definitely evolve over time!

Always ready to help us carrying the bread, handing out cakes and to swap playing cards just for fun, Alex is one of those cute faces that we take care of everyday!
